Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining: Boma, Sanaa, and the Signature Tables
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge sits on a large savanna habitat and houses two of the most culinarily distinct restaurants at Walt Disney World. Boma in the Jambo House building and Sanaa in the Kidani Village wing both require no park ticket, both fill quickly at the 60-day booking window, and both attract a returning-guest cohort that keeps cancellation demand high. This guide covers both, how the booking window works across the resort, and how to catch a table when the window has already closed.

How Booking Works at Animal Kingdom Lodge
All Walt Disney World dining reservations open at 6:00 AM Eastern, 60 days before your check-in date. On-site resort guests can book their full stay window in a single session on that morning. Off-site guests book 60 days before each individual date.
Animal Kingdom Lodge has two distinct buildings: Jambo House (the main lobby building) and Kidani Village (the DVC wing connected to Jambo House by a walking path). Boma is in Jambo House. Sanaa is in Kidani Village. Both restaurants appear in Disney's dining search under Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, but they are separate listings. Book them individually.
If you are targeting both on the same trip, prioritize based on your itinerary. Dinner at Sanaa followed by the Jambo House lobby and savanna viewing area makes a natural evening. Or book Boma breakfast before a park day and Sanaa dinner on a separate night. The two restaurants serve different food formats, so running both on the same trip is common for guests who want the full lodge dining experience.
For the full mechanics of the 60-day system, see the Disney Dining Reservation Playbook.
Boma: African Buffet in Jambo House
Boma is in the main Jambo House building, adjacent to the lobby. It serves two meal periods: breakfast and dinner. Both are buffet format.
What Boma Serves
The dinner buffet draws from pan-African cooking traditions and includes stews, roasted meats, grains, and vegetable dishes you will not find anywhere else at Walt Disney World. Specific dishes include bobotie (a South African spiced meat preparation), slow-cooked tagine-style stews, fufu, ugali, and roasted meats with African spice blends. The kitchen also maintains familiar options for guests who are less adventurous. More than 50 dishes on a dinner spread covers most dietary directions.
Breakfast is a broader but less distinctive spread, with American buffet staples alongside African-influenced breakfast items. If your party can only book one period, dinner is the one associated with Boma's reputation.
Who Books Boma
A significant portion of Boma regulars are DVC members and Annual Passholders staying at Jambo House. It serves as the primary table-service option for Jambo House resort guests, which means a high proportion of returning visitors. That returning-guest base keeps it consistently booked and keeps cancellations from sitting open for long.
Large groups do well at Boma because the buffet format removes individual ordering logistics. Tables for groups of ten or more should be targeted at the 60-day window. For groups of fifteen or more, contact Disney Dining directly in advance.
What Else to Do at Jambo House
The Jambo House lobby is one of the most impressive hotel lobbies at Walt Disney World. The savanna habitat visible from the lobby and outdoor observation decks is a reason to arrive early for any Boma reservation. Budget extra time before your seating to walk through the lobby and find a spot on the observation deck, particularly around dusk.
Boma is also a workable dinner option on any night of a trip that does not have a park day attached. No park ticket means no park schedule coordination required.
Catching a Boma Cancellation
Boma cancellations cluster in two windows: the 48 hours after the booking window opens (corrections from guests who booked the wrong date or party size), and the week before the reservation date (guests whose trips changed). Dinner cancellations on high-demand dates move quickly. Manual checks morning and evening will catch a fraction of what surfaces.
SpotSitter checks for available slots every minute on paid plans. When a table opens, your phone gets an alert in about 90 seconds. You open My Disney Experience and book with your own credentials. We do not store your Disney credentials. Ever.

Sanaa: African-Indian Table Service in Kidani Village
Sanaa is on the ground floor of the Kidani Village wing, with windows positioned directly at the savanna habitat. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner. It is a table-service restaurant, not a buffet.
The Savanna View
The windows at Sanaa are at ground level and positioned close enough to the habitat that giraffes, zebras, and other animals regularly walk through the frame during a meal. This is not a distant background view. Evening dinner reservations capture the best light as the sun moves toward the horizon.
For guests staying elsewhere on Disney property, visiting Sanaa specifically for the animal view during a meal is a common reason to make the trip to Kidani Village.
What Sanaa Serves
The menu draws from East African coastal cuisine, where Indian trade routes shaped local cooking for centuries. The result is a Swahili-influenced menu with spice blends, slow-cooked preparations, flatbreads, and chutneys. Nothing else at Walt Disney World serves this cuisine.
The bread service is the most recommended starting point for any visit. It arrives as an appetizer: several types of Indian-style flatbread alongside a selection of accompaniments including chutneys, hummus, roasted garlic naan dipping sauce, and other spreads. Order it when you are seated rather than after entrees, as it sets the pace of the meal.
Dinner is the higher-demand period. Lunch is somewhat more accessible and offers the same food menu with the same savanna view. For guests who want to maximize the chance of catching availability, monitoring both meal periods is a practical approach.
Getting to Kidani Village
Kidani Village is connected to Jambo House but is a separate building. If driving to the resort for dinner, follow signs specifically for Kidani Village rather than the main Animal Kingdom Lodge entrance, which routes to Jambo House. If using Disney transportation, confirm the specific bus stop, as some resort buses serve only one wing.
Catching a Sanaa Cancellation
Sanaa draws from both resort hotel guests and visitors from across Walt Disney World who make the trip specifically for the savanna view and menu. The result is a cancellation pool that moves fast on popular dates. An opening can surface and disappear within minutes on a sought-after evening.
SpotSitter checks for available slots every minute on paid plans. When a table opens, your phone gets an alert in about 90 seconds. You open My Disney Experience and book with your own credentials. We do not store your Disney credentials. Ever.

Other Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining
Animal Kingdom Lodge also has bar and lounge options in both Jambo House and Kidani Village where food is available without a full dining reservation. These are lower-demand options useful when Boma and Sanaa are unavailable and you still want to experience the lodge. Specific menus and availability change; verify at disneyworld.disney.go.com before visiting.
Why Both Restaurants Are Worth Monitoring
Boma and Sanaa each have a returning-guest base that treats them as trip staples. The 60-day window is the best opportunity, but it is not the only one. Cancellations happen consistently across both restaurants, particularly in the two clusters mentioned above. The challenge is the speed at which a cancellation gets claimed.
Running simultaneous watches on both restaurants is the practical approach for guests who want maximum coverage. The Free plan covers one watch. The Founder plan at $49/month covers five concurrent watches, which accommodates both Boma and Sanaa across multiple meal periods or trip nights. See SpotSitter pricing for current plan details.
Set up your free watch at SpotSitter and you will have your phone in your pocket when the table opens.
